Senator John Mccain

Senator John McCain passed away August 25, 2018 after a sustained battle with brain cancer. He was put to rest in the United States Naval Academy Cemetery in Annapolis, Maryland. He is survived by his wife Cindy, brother Joe and seven children.

MCCAIN was born into a military family- his grandfather, John "Slew" McCain Sr. was a four-star admiral in the U.S. Navy. His Father, John Sidney "Jack" McCain Jr. was also a four-star admiral in the U.S. Navy. Senator followed in his fathers footsteps graduating from the United States Naval Academy in 1958.

During the Vietnam War the plane McCain was flying was shot down over Hanoi. subsequently He was captured and tortured by the north Vietnamese. He was held as a prisoner of war for six years.

In 1991 McCain retired from the Navy as a captain and moved to Arizona, where he entered politics. He was elected twice to the United States House of Representatives and five times to the United States Senate.

McCain was diagnosed with an aggressive brain cancer in july 2017. In august 2018 his family announced that he would no longer receive treatment for cancer. He passed away the next day. He was moved to the rotunda of the U.S. Capitol to lie in State.
