Comic Strip legend Stan Lee passed away November 12, 2018 in Los Angeles at the age of 95. He is survived by his daughter Joan Celia "J.C." Lee.
Born Stanley Martin Lieber in New York City in 1922. Lieber legally changed his name to Stan Lee after years of success.
Lee started in the publishing industry when he was 17 as an assistant at Timely Comics. Lee would later change the name of the company to Marvel Comics following the success of The Hulk, Fantastic Four and the X-Men. The name Marvel was chosen because the first book published by Timely was called "Marvel Mystery Comics".
Lee enlisted in the United States Army in 1942 and was eventfully transferred the to the Training Films Division. In 1945, Lee completed his World War II Army duties.
In 1981 Lee and his Wife Joan moved from New York to California so Lee could work on Marvel's TV and movie productions. Along with executive producing and consulting Lee made regular cameo appearances in Marvel and non-Marvel productions including - The Incrediable Hulk TV program (1989), Mallrats (1995), X-Men (2000), Spider-Man (2002), Fantastic Four (2005), Iron Man (2008), Thor (2011), Captain America (2011), Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Avengers (2015), Ant-Man (2015), Deadpool (2016), Doctor Strange (2016), and Black Panther (2018).
